When exposed to high heat or fire, Contego RFB thin film coating swells or "intumesces" forming a tough char barrier that stops the fire from spreading and smoke from growing. Contego RFB primer protects your home and family. Contego Reactive Fire Barrier Intumescent Paint can be used for application on home walls and frames to protect kitchens, nurseries, garages, bathrooms and bedrooms. No volatile organic compounds (VOCs) - non-toxic smoke during a fire. Provides zero flame spread and smoke production. Contego RFB provides the best adhesion of any intumescent paint and applies just like regular paint. One gallon will cover 60 square feet. Please note, you must apply Contego Reactive Fire Barrier within 72 hours of opening the container. You may top coat for physical protection, color and decoration.
